Synopsis What is the first thing we think of when we hear the word shark? While it is true that there are huge, unpredictable and ferocious sharks, many are small and harmless to people, and all serve an important ecological function. This "biography" shows us the role that these magnificent fish have played for centuries in the world's seas.

Synopsis According to Juan de Patmos, the fourth rider of the apocalypse will arrive riding on a bay horse; his name will be Mortality and Hell his companion. This seemed to occur in 1348, when the bubonic plague killed over a third of the European population. With astonishing realism, El cuarto jinete immerses us in a devastated Paris, where we can witness monks addressing God with questions, flagellant fanatics blaming everything on the Jews, orphaned children who beg and steal to survive, and Abu Alí Ibn Mohamed de Ronda, wise and compassionate doctor dressed as Pedro de Hispania, with his young disciple.

Synopsis In this novel we salute the fortunate appearance of the youngest of our line of picaresque characters. Narrated from a calm old age, it is a story of orphanage, crime, heartbreak and atonement, all common themes to the Lazarillo de Tormes, Periquillo Sarniento and Candingas, a smiling devil that lends his name to the protagonist of this novel. But even if the subjects are the same, the passage through a voice changes them. As he speaks, while he narrates, the voice, at times slang, at times poetic but always juicy, becomes the real main character of this delicious novel.

Synopsis This novel is a book of frontiers. It takes place at the edge of the city, where the plain, the bare forest, the highway, and the manufacturing zone begin. The main characters also move on the edge: a family that oscillates between a frugal resistance within legality and numerous attempts at some heist that would free them from poverty once and for all. But at the same time, and here this book becomes unique, this family inhabits the frontiers where the daily routine gets infected and borders fantasy in an ambiguous, dubious way.

Agile, lively and energetic, his thought forms part of the great classics in the history of Western philosophical thought. His committed nature and his significant contribution to the debate between communitarianism and liberalism in the 1990s contributed to Taylor's identification as one of the theoretical fathers of communitarianism. Three trees, a cypress, a juniper and a pine tree are the magnetized cores around which things happen: the wandering trucks, a long, unforgettable train as an “animal that flees”; voices of children and birds, insects, the thin grass, some dishes, flowers at times, a window from which someone takes detailed notes of all of these, transforming each line in a life testimony

Synopsis In these stories, life is torn apart and leaves a trail of blood with drops of black comedy in the hallway. The patriarchs go to the beach with their children and ignore the apocalypse that is approaching on the horizon. The gods have awakened, they are hungry for human beings. Couples look every day at a hole in the wall of their house and wonder how long this happiness that never seems to run out will last. A young man mutates into a swarm of flies when he is fired and a couple argues with their son while burying him in the garden. Death lurks everywhere: in the form of a crack, a hole, a jaw that opens between the sea and the sky, embodied in a hitman who is waiting, or boarding a bus after a bad day tired of dealing with its responsibilities. At any moment it strikes. The protagonists of these stories are rabbits paralyzed in front of the headlights of a car that illuminates the absurd. Aware of the density of time and how short the fuse is, they see everything that slips through their fingers fall to pieces: love, happiness, home, identity, the plot. Matías Candeira spins poetry and tragedy very finely to display the acidic humor of the wound. Playing with language until the ridiculous and the sublime go hand in hand, he turns reality into a fracture; he challenges it with a distortion. Here, no one can be trusted anymore, much less the narrative voices that observe their characters under a microscope – and us along with them – with the cruelest and fiercest gaze while everything is about to blow up.
