Synopsis Vámonos con Pancho Villa by Rafael F. Muñoz is one of the most profound visions of that particular kind of revolutionary fighter that was the Villista soldier. This novel stands out for being a grand-scale story with an exceptional structure. With calm wisdom and no rhetorical emphasis, Muñoz merges the epic tale of Pancho Villa’s army at the Torreón battle with one of the most tragic and heartbreaking testimonies of revolutionary fidelity.

Synopsis Ten years ago some friends shared their fuck-ups and a few beers in Mexico City and discovered how powerful it can be to learn from it. Today Fuckup Nights has become a movement that investigates, make questions and redefines failure and has given more than 15,000 of his stories to more than 1,200,000 people in 185 cities and 62 countries, hand in hand with hundreds of companies that seek to build more innovative organizational cultures. After a decade of analyzing hundreds of stories, the four founders of Fuckup Nights and the Failure Institute share with us what they have learned about failure: its origins in our culture, how capitalism and its cult of individual success foster the taboo, what factors and behaviors that trigger it, what are its signs, how it impacts our emotions, how to communicate it to your team, which consolations rituals you can add to your routine, what anti-failure tools to use and how to use them, and what conclusions this community of rebels has reached. The book is enriched with stories of iconic failure that have gone through Fuckup Nights internationally. It also includes revealing anecdotes from within the movement that tell of their own defeats, but also of its evolution. Join the movement, laugh at your failures and share them with the world! #ShareTheFailure

Synopsis The time I wrote this book coincides, curiously, with a period of happiness in my life. Something that is apparently inexplicable, because it is a dense volume of stories that appeals to the fear of the deer. What was it then that led me to bring out my darkest side? I can speculate that, paradoxically, it was stability. After seven years in Mexico City, I had finally adapted to it; I was ready to make it the main protagonist of my narrative. I lived and worked in the Center; the influence of its streets, buildings and characters began to be decisive in the reconfiguration of my imagination. Another important detail: Demonia is the only book I have written by hand. When the idea of "Moscas" came to me, the first story, my computer was being fixed by a technician; I felt that I had to write it or the idea would escape me, so I wrote it in a notebook. I liked the slow, reflective pace that my clumsy handwriting forced me to follow. After finishing the story, I decided to do the rest of the collection using that obsolete method. I have no doubt that the weight of the ink and the texture of the paper contributed to my signing a pact with my Dark Half. Whether they travel to Santo Domingo, like the couple over whom a family curse hangs ("Samaná"), to Guanajuato like the brothers who are consumed by the secret power of poetry ("Manuscript Found in an Empty Apartment") or to the Tapalpa forest, where a supernatural force puts an end to a reunion of old schoolmates ("Demonia"), the protagonists of these nine stories fulfill their destiny to discover that "hell is here." There is no escape from the flames, even if we are happy. Bernardo Esquinca

Separatism is connected to the practice of state sovereignty, but also to group identity: it is a failure of Indonesian identity and an expression of a distinct local identity. Hers are the kingdom, the power, the glory: She could swim in money, since she is married to a powerful businessman. She is beautiful and refined, an example of good taste and the soul of the parties. Moreover, to her absolute joy, she has a first-born in whom she has high hopes: brimming with qualities, real and imaginary, Renato is destined not only to run the business emporium created by his father, but, in time, to make her a proud grandmother. Nothing is perfect: Maria Helena has another son, a potential suicide... Why does Emiliano Rivera del Pozo wants to commit suicide? Because he lost all interest in the hypothetical future. Because this is an inhospitable world, conducive to loneliness. Because he is indifferent to opulence, power, social glitter. Because he thinks in his parents, and especially in his mother, he could never and never will be someone other than the invisible son on whose qualities it would be wrong to have expectations.

Synopsis This long poem is the scenery where several characters play a moving part, such as the fox, the jaguar, the ubiquitous clown, children dripping with joy and an interlocutor that the poetic voice addresses with loving dedication. It is the touching space of childhood, that brightens and incessantly lays down a vital spot. But it is mostly the place of natural wonder, described with talent, always marked by fine rays of light, sparkles and reflections that covers it, simultaneously, of a sharp clarity and a just as sharp certainty of fleetingness. As in this space, in this garden, this life is supported by the roots of death. This book was translated into Italian and published by Edizioni Kolibris in 2015

Synopsis Who hasn't wondered about the existence of other worlds and imagined how to discover them? Written in the first half of the twentieth century, the stories of Judith Merril, Zenna Henderson, Joanna Russ, Doris Pitkin Buck, Wilmar H. Shiras, C. L. Moore and Mildred Clingerman show possible ways to reach them. Whether through journeys that challenge the courage of their protagonists, the convergence of dimensions in everyday life at home, genetic mutations or hidden villages, these writers suggest that there are different universes that touch each other, that multiply the present but also the possibilities of the future. Alternate Worlds is the first volume of The Future is Woman!, an anthology edited by academic Lisa Yaszek that brings together stories by twenty-five American writers who found in science fiction a space of freedom to play with surprise and wonder, but also to experiment, dissent and confront social and political issues of their present. Over the course of four decades, these authors not only helped to build a literary genre from its foundations, but they also transformed it by developing complex characters, rethinking the relationship between men and women, humans and aliens, and asking how science and technology could reconfigure gender, sex, motherhood and survival, enabling new ways of living. Divided into three thematic volumes that bring together Yaszek's anthology, Almadía presents this collection for the first time in Spanish thanks to the translation by the Falsos Amigos collective.

After much hesitation, Alexia finally gets up the courage to send an e-mail to Benedict Woodward, a famous writer, to confess how much she likes his books and to ask him about his next novel. The first replies she receives are very unfriendly. The author is dry and distant. This does not discourage Alexia, who insists on writing to him without imagining that this innocent exchange of words will lead to a surprising adventure full of secrets and revelations. An adventure in which nothing is what it seems...

The Internet isn't just for sending photos and doing homework. There are plenty of ways to take advantage of it. One of them is to write, but not as you would do it on paper. Let the author give you a few tips for playing with words in cyberspace, and let her tell you how some of them have a longer history than we think.

Synopsis In 2010, the Museum of Contemporary Art of Oaxaca and the publishing house Almadía celebrated the seventieth birthday of the painter Francisco Toledo by publishing in complicity a collection of poems written about the work and the person of the artist and selected by Ernesto Lumbreras and Efraín Velasco. In addition to being festive, this edition resolved the gap left by the publication Toledo: la línea metafórica, published by Miguel Flores Ramírez in 1998. Of modest circulation and currently controversial as a bibliographic rarity, it began to bring together the works of poets seduced by the painter's eroticized territory.

Synopsis In a village in the Spanish countryside, a house is shaking. The windows are slamming, the roofs are narrowing, the walls are slamming down on whoever crosses the threshold of the door. Inside, voices, scratches, cries, and furniture are heard. The house is crying out for things, it is hungry. Its inhabitants – a grandmother and her granddaughter – have learned to live with the shadows in the corners, with the beings hiding under the beds and the dead who arrive tired from crossing the mountain. Built with the money that the great-grandfather earned by prostituting women, the house is the heritage of a family that, along with the walls, has inherited resentment and rage. After the war that devastated the territory but kept the dynamics of power and social classes intact, this home protects while it suffocates. More than a refuge, the house is a condemnation, a curse from which one cannot escape. A place where resentment never stops drilling into the body and the perfect setting for them to cook up their revenge. With exceptional literary skill, Layla Martínez has told a story that is already a literary event in Spain and several other countries. Venturing into terror, Carcoma touches our deepest sensibilities to awaken fear and the bittersweet memory of family ties. While placing gender and class violence in its proper dimension as authentic horror stories, it reminds us that love, hate and trauma are also inherited through blood.

Something like this happened to me during my time at school until I was just over 17 years old. Accompanied by the rhythms of Garcilaso and a diction that is both classical and contemporary, Ana Diz's poems are diverse intonations, music of a single flow, as complex, fragmented, and contradictory as the experience of life itself. In it, the author breaks down the modes of operation of collective law by showing procedures, rituals, coercive measures and sanctions.
