Baptized as Monica and sheltered by Rosy, a kind of adoptive mother, she feels fulfilled and learns the tricks of her new world: a place full of betrayals, happiness, euphoria and addictions. A couple of years later, Mónica will go from the security of hotels and inns to the hostility of the streets and the Jungle, the most sordid and unknown place in Tijuana. With her dry body and her mother's voice in mind, she manages to lick her wounds and return home. Her way back will be a viacrucis, the arrival, a blessing. All this, the true beginning. This body of mine is an honest and scatterbraines novel, full of humor and music, love and sisterhood, that still leaves space for pain and hatred. It is full of drugs, danger and hypocrisy; of oil injections, sequins and high heels; of sex on street corners, hotels and virtual spaces. Uri Bleier writes a novel that smells like the streets, tastes like the beach and sounds like cumbia; a story that his character gallops with all her fierceness and tenderness. «Uri Bleier investigates, listens, spoons and gathers each voice, each character, each scene. Imprint Almadia ISBN 9786078667352 Edition number 1 Publication year 2020 Pages 167 Format Printed THEMA Fiction and Related items Synopsis The time I wrote this book coincides, curiously, with a period of happiness in my life. Something that is apparently inexplicable, because it is a dense volume of stories that appeals to the fear of the deer. What was it then that led me to bring out my darkest side? I can speculate that, paradoxically, it was stability. After seven years in Mexico City, I had finally adapted to it; I was ready to make it the main protagonist of my narrative. I lived and worked in the Center; the influence of its streets, buildings and characters began to be decisive in the reconfiguration of my imagination. Another important detail: Demonia is the only book I have written by hand. When the idea of "Moscas" came to me, the first story, my computer was being fixed by a technician; I felt that I had to write it or the idea would escape me, so I wrote it in a notebook. I liked the slow, reflective pace that my clumsy handwriting forced me to follow. After finishing the story, I decided to do the rest of the collection using that obsolete method. I have no doubt that the weight of the ink and the texture of the paper contributed to my signing a pact with my Dark Half. Whether they travel to Santo Domingo, like the couple over whom a family curse hangs ("Samaná"), to Guanajuato like the brothers who are consumed by the secret power of poetry ("Manuscript Found in an Empty Apartment") or to the Tapalpa forest, where a supernatural force puts an end to a reunion of old schoolmates ("Demonia"), the protagonists of these nine stories fulfill their destiny to discover that "hell is here." There is no escape from the flames, even if we are happy. Bernardo Esquinca foreign rights contact Elizabet Osorio Osorio E-mail eosorio@corporativoventura.mx -

Formas de vida en el barrio Zen de Palermo Author Ferdinando Fava Publisher Sb editorial Imprint Sb editorial ISBN 9786316593238 Edition number 1 Publication year 2024 Pages 358 Format Printed THEMA Social & cultural anthropology Synopsis It deals with a stigmatized suburban neighborhood of Palermo (Italy) that has been the object of political and urban planning projects. The author confronts the logic of stigmatization to the point of dismantling the images that configure the “strangeness” of its inhabitants, a neighborhood populated by “savages”, without faith or law, submerged in promiscuity and anomie. These imaginary walls, daily constructions of the media and of institutional and socio-political devices, weave ruptures and abysses, crack personal identities and present individual trajectories as failures. foreign rights contact Andrés Telesca E-mail andres.telesca@editorialsb.com -
