Synopsis With the intelligent curiosity and the transparent and warm language that has been shown in Cuerpo extraño and Cuaderno de faros, Jazmina Barrera once again explores her body through writing, but this time through the first moments of her motherhood. Almost attending an intimate and familiar conversation, which accompanies the author's thoughts in the chronicle of the transformations of her body, her sensations, fears and reactions, while going through the work of women who through photographs, texts or paintings found in art their own language to relate and understand - as mothers, daughters or companions - their experiences of gestation, childbirth and breastfeeding. Visiting the stories of the women in her family or artists such as Tina Modotti, Frida Kahlo, Rosario Castellanos, Marlene Dumas, Mary Shelley, Ursula K. Le Guin, Virginia Woolf, Luz Jiménez, Simone de Beauvoir, Alice Munro or Margaret Atwood, Barrera's lucid and honest gaze does not give in to easy sentimentality; The writer explores the darkness of pregnancy and tells the story of pain, anguish and happiness in a pristine language that is amazed by the mystery, so common but so magical, of giving birth. Linea nigra is the story of a woman whose body is transformed into a writing that she will gradually decipher, while her writing is also transformed by her pregnant body.

Synopsis The time I wrote this book coincides, curiously, with a period of happiness in my life. Something that is apparently inexplicable, because it is a dense volume of stories that appeals to the fear of the deer. What was it then that led me to bring out my darkest side? I can speculate that, paradoxically, it was stability. After seven years in Mexico City, I had finally adapted to it; I was ready to make it the main protagonist of my narrative. I lived and worked in the Center; the influence of its streets, buildings and characters began to be decisive in the reconfiguration of my imagination. Another important detail: Demonia is the only book I have written by hand. When the idea of "Moscas" came to me, the first story, my computer was being fixed by a technician; I felt that I had to write it or the idea would escape me, so I wrote it in a notebook. I liked the slow, reflective pace that my clumsy handwriting forced me to follow. After finishing the story, I decided to do the rest of the collection using that obsolete method. I have no doubt that the weight of the ink and the texture of the paper contributed to my signing a pact with my Dark Half. Whether they travel to Santo Domingo, like the couple over whom a family curse hangs ("Samaná"), to Guanajuato like the brothers who are consumed by the secret power of poetry ("Manuscript Found in an Empty Apartment") or to the Tapalpa forest, where a supernatural force puts an end to a reunion of old schoolmates ("Demonia"), the protagonists of these nine stories fulfill their destiny to discover that "hell is here." There is no escape from the flames, even if we are happy. Bernardo Esquinca

Synopsis The aim of this book is to contextualize the problem of art in Martin Heidegger's thought and to analyze the place of the essay “The Origin of the Work of Art” in his intellectual itinerary. In history there are only rare moments when certain works of art transform the world. Located in an instance of transition, “The Origin of the Work of Art” is an oasis, a fertile place, which allows Heidegger to overcome a project that begins to desertify, Being and Time, to take the necessary impulses to revivify his thought, the philosophy of Ereignis.

Synopsis The Trace is a text that talks about a burial, and the feelings of the protagonist when she contemplates the body of a man with whom she lived for a long time, whom she has stopped seeing and whom she sees again, now bloodless, and the memory of that body when it was alive and shared a very intense love relationship with the person who looks at it. But, by doing so, that is, by reviving it in writing, the decay of the body is cancelled. Writing allows us to give life to things again. Of course, writing is, on a certain level, a dead body by the very fact that it is something that is written and the book is an object, but by having the possibility of writing, of recreating something, life is recovered. This is the most beautiful thing about writing, the possibility of resurrecting that which disappears. Margo Glantz.

Synopsis Convinced that Mexico City may not be the most advisable region to live in, but also that it is so intricate and exciting that it is impossible to leave it, Juan Villoro proposes this book written from the devotion of the recalcitrant and amazed urbanite that unfolds like an infinite puzzle: the shortcuts, the wrestling movies, the national heroes, the Tepiteño commerce, the government paperwork, the enigma of the tire repair shops, the countless crowds, the consumption of chili, the ancestral temples. The author also narrates certain autobiographical passages, such as the last walk with his grandmother or the memory of the neighborhood of abandoned houses where he grew up. With an attentive gaze and a firm pulse, Villoro unfolds as a journalist, passerby, pen buyer, nostalgic adult, responsible father, emergency brigade member, and offers us a testimony of the multiple adventures that the city has in store for each and every one of its members. Whether from his own experience or through listening to and investigating other people's realities, Juan Villoro composes a great fresco of the endearing and eternal chaos that makes up the country's capital. Stone, Elizabeth Mann Borgese, Margaret St. Clair, Leigh Brackett, Carol Emshwiller, Rosel George Brown, Leslie Perri, Katherine MacLean and Andrew North, which allow us to explore the tensions between the future and the past through stories in the purest pulp style, centered on adventures in space. The first alien civilization that won a war against humans; a species of extraterrestrials that comes to Earth to share its knowledge but faces a violent and racist human population; a hunting dog in the middle of an existential dilemma on a frozen planet; Space travelers who contract strange diseases; a genderless civilization that disguises itself to coexist with humans; mothers who must maintain harmony between their children when a child from another planet joins their carpool; reckless women who do not hesitate to perform heroic acts in space. These stories demonstrate that science fiction writing is a great exercise in empathy. The writers in this collection imagined new worlds based on understanding and solidarity with other beings, perhaps based on knowing themselves to be representatives of a certain otherness in their time. The stories contained here reaffirm that moving the conventional center of the stories we tell not only refreshes our narratives, but invites us to move our own center and thus glimpse new discussions and ways of living in community.

    THEMA Disability: social aspects
Synopsis In Mexico, more than 16% of the population, close to 21 million or 1 in 6 Mexicans million or 1 out of every 6 Mexicans has some type of type of disabling condition, why does it seem that we know of so many fewer cases? Because people with disabilities in Mexico are an invisible force. If it is not every four years that the Paralympics are held, if the the Paralympics, if it is not the International Day of PwDs, if it is not that the government gives fiscal benefits to promote the labor insertion of this group, the rest of the time, people with disabilities live in the shadows. This book seeks to shed a little light on just twenty-four of those millions we don't see. With disabilities from birth or acquired and of various types, and originating from various parts of the country, Olympic medalists, entrepreneurs, philanthropists, executives, politicians, public servants, artists, activists, lecturers, academics, lawyers, a doctor and even a stand-up comedian tell their stories for the first time with resilience, courage and purpose for the first time: to be references for other PwDs and to motivate the general population to be agents of change, to contribute to multiply that light and ensure inclusion in all aspects of life. A heartbreaking, inspiring and sui generis book in which the journalist and activist activist Barbara Anderson lends her pen to give voice to those who do not count, while renowned photographer Enrique Covarrubias illuminates their faces for the first time with a view among equals. (In)visibles is a reading that radically changes the way in which we see disability, moves consciences and invites to action.

Synopsis A very singular navigator embarks with his young nephews and his daughter on an exciting and risky adventure that will take them through the most diverse places of the ocean and of their own lives. Here, the sea is a metaphor for existence. Going out to fish in the open sea in a rowboat requires courage, decision and daring, just like life itself, but to what extent should one respond to the challenges that arise at every moment? Where is the right balance between courage and prudence? The laws of the sailor give a possible answer: they are the rules that the strange navigator has abided by to govern his own life, and that he shares with whoever freely wishes to adopt them. Humor, fantasy and suspense merge in this novel to achieve an agile narration that generously invites reading.
