Persona
Read moreTitle Persona Author Seguro, Yolanda Publisher Almadía Ediciones, S. A. P. I. de C. V. Imprint Almadia ISBN 9786078667819 Edition number 2 Publication year 2020 Pages 99 Format Printed THEMA Fiction and Related items Synopsis It is necessary to stop understanding the person as a thing that has the capacity to say “I”. A person is not a natural thing or a decree, it is not a substance but a relationship. “A person is something that laughs,” writes Yolanda Segura. Who laughs, what laughs? This book is important, because in it Segura has taken the concept of a person (inaccurate, contradictory and insufficient) and has taken it to a universal code, showing us the intelligence of poetry activated by the lucidity of its discernment. She scrutinizes, sniffs and investigates the inside/outside of what we are, that being, individual, subject or similar and its multiple connotations and imaginaries. We must look carefully: What does the author collect? What has she decided to record? Persona is an extraordinary book, and not only in Mexican poetry, it is a novel, documented and deeply thought-out meditation. We know that there is no discipline that can provide conclusive results on the person/non-human person problem and that is why we need to go further: to poetry as an intuitive and instinctive vision, as a cosmic idea, unify yourself. If person is an incomprehensible hybrid that even surpasses the status of what we are used to calling “the human,” what defines us? Where do we live? Where are the signs of what we are? Surely, we know that the investigation can only take place in the work with language. (Carla Faesler) foreign rights contact Elizabet Osorio Osorio E-mail eosorio@corporativoventura.mx -

Imprint Almadia ISBN 9786078851782 Edition number 1 Publication year 2024 Pages 200 Format Printed THEMA Fiction and Related items Synopsis The protagonists of these stories are fragile men, unsatisfied wives, insecure and violent husbands, daughters who do not want to be mothers, submissive women on the verge of rebelling, misogynistic boys, girls who yearn for an independent life. Traveling between Mexico and Spain, between Monterrey and Barcelona, Some of These Things Are True portrays with a great deal of black humor the ridiculousness of social conventions, the asymmetry of romantic relationships, the fears and traumas that dominate us, uncontrollable passions, everyday machismo and classism. In a country accustomed to euphemisms, in a society addicted to secrets and in favor of concealment, Vicky González says the things that many of us think but do not dare to say, which is disturbing and, above all, hilarious. Twenty stories that reveal a writer with unusual acuity and extreme sensitivity to expose the lies, pretenses and hypocrisies of our time. There is only one thing more exciting than discovering a great writer: having seen her mature. I have been reading these stories for years, witnessing how this book was slowly taking shape, steeped in irony, aged in barrels of irreverence and tenderness. foreign rights contact Elizabet Osorio Osorio E-mail eosorio@corporativoventura.mx -

Was it not, perhaps, the character of an anime? Poems for otakus is a journey through emotions and stories that blur the border between reality and fiction. And doesn't something similar happen when we fall in love with the idealization of a person, or on social networks, where we design the fictionalization of our identities? Antología de Enrique Dusse. La Filosofía de la Liberación

La Filosofía de la Liberación Author Dussel Ambrosini, Enrique Domingo; Bautista Segales, Juan José; Colmenares Lizárraga, Katya Publisher EdicionesAkal México Imprint AKAL ISBN 9786078683628 Edition number 1 Publication year 2021 Pages 992 Format Printed THEMA Critical philosophy Synopsis This anthology shows the fundamental thesis of the Philosophy of Liberation as a thinking that arises from a locus enuntiationis (place of enunciation) located in the exterior, on the geopolitical, cultural, economic, political, military periphery of the global South, with an active position in living in a dependent, neocolonial world. As an act of decolonizing rebellion, the Philosophy of Liberation observed in dominated peoples, excluded from modern civilization—and, therefore, from its thought—the opportunity to display a broader horizon than that of mere Eurocentrism. Starting from world history, Dussel situates philosophical thinking from the otherness of the Other, nothingness, non-being, “the widow, the orphan, the stranger” (as Hammurabi describes them in his Babylonian code of law) and the poor, an alterity from which criticism can be made of any system (economic, political, epistemological, philosophical, gender, cultural, racial, etc.) that closes on itself. Dussel is inspired by his favorite authors (Latin American and European, from Salazar Bondy or Freire to Sartre or Heidegger, including Hinkelammert, Levinas, Zea, Ricoeur or Benjamin) and subsumes them in a new decolonizing and critical discourse. The result is not only a new vision of world history, but also new philosophical categories that are refined, specified, as the debates, the years, and the existential places from which one thinks. The intercultural interpellation of indigenous peoples is strengthening the original theses of the Philosophy of Liberation. This work is dedicated in memory of Dr. Juan José Bautista (+2021), who left us too soon, and his wife Dr. Katya Colmenares who prepared this anthology and wrote its introduction. foreign rights contact Jorge Betanzos E-mail jorge.betanzos@akal.com -
