Synopsis One freezing morning, two men look at each other through the window of a Chicago coffee shop. They lightly touch with their eyes, as if they knew each other from before, from another life. They do not speak to each other, they only record each other's figure and wait for a fortunate chance to make them meet again. And yes: that same night they coincide. The physical attraction is instantaneous; the sex is pleasurable. Their reciprocal desire for a loving relationship is in part incited by recreational drug. Despite the fact that one of them must move to the opposite corner of the country and give up his life as an escort and as a psychotherapist, they start a life as a couple, installed exclusively in the present; in a world without history and without future. However, after a period of absolute happiness, the past bursts in with devastating force and precipitates this love story towards a sad, almost tragic end.

Synopsis Through an exquisite ethnographic analysis we enter fully into the 'sugarcane world', a network of actors, activities and knowledge that make up the daily work of the sugarcane grower and overflow it in family ties and community practices, existential territories and ways - as subaltern as sovereign - of earning a rural living in contemporary Mexico. The voice of the protagonists of the cane-world comes to life from each of these places in movement. Thus the prose of this work honors the best traditions and versions of good ethnography.

Synopsis The time I wrote this book coincides, curiously, with a period of happiness in my life. Something that is apparently inexplicable, because it is a dense volume of stories that appeals to the fear of the deer. What was it then that led me to bring out my darkest side? I can speculate that, paradoxically, it was stability. After seven years in Mexico City, I had finally adapted to it; I was ready to make it the main protagonist of my narrative. I lived and worked in the Center; the influence of its streets, buildings and characters began to be decisive in the reconfiguration of my imagination. Another important detail: Demonia is the only book I have written by hand. When the idea of "Moscas" came to me, the first story, my computer was being fixed by a technician; I felt that I had to write it or the idea would escape me, so I wrote it in a notebook. I liked the slow, reflective pace that my clumsy handwriting forced me to follow. After finishing the story, I decided to do the rest of the collection using that obsolete method. I have no doubt that the weight of the ink and the texture of the paper contributed to my signing a pact with my Dark Half. Whether they travel to Santo Domingo, like the couple over whom a family curse hangs ("Samaná"), to Guanajuato like the brothers who are consumed by the secret power of poetry ("Manuscript Found in an Empty Apartment") or to the Tapalpa forest, where a supernatural force puts an end to a reunion of old schoolmates ("Demonia"), the protagonists of these nine stories fulfill their destiny to discover that "hell is here." There is no escape from the flames, even if we are happy. Bernardo Esquinca

Synopsis This book tells the story of the Saharawi people, moving away from the historical paternalism with which history has always been written. It is the author's wish to open a new chapter by narrating the reality from the eyes, feelings and struggles of the Saharawi women; their life stories are the central axis of this book, and we narrate it from a different approach, that is, we link the life stories with the testimonial theater of the third generation of women, most of whom were born in the refugee camps.
