This truth ignites a spiral of situations that accompany him from his adolescence to adulthood, the discovery of his sexuality, and his love for a single man: His Alpha. On the path to adulthood, he will experience challenges that will test everything he believed about himself and teach him to live with the truth that his body and deepest desires cannot hide. THEMA Critical philosophy
Synopsis This anthology shows the fundamental thesis of the Philosophy of Liberation as a thinking that arises from a locus enuntiationis (place of enunciation) located in the exterior, on the geopolitical, cultural, economic, political, military periphery of the global South, with an active position in living in a dependent, neocolonial world. As an act of decolonizing rebellion, the Philosophy of Liberation observed in dominated peoples, excluded from modern civilization—and, therefore, from its thought—the opportunity to display a broader horizon than that of mere Eurocentrism. Starting from world history, Dussel situates philosophical thinking from the otherness of the Other, nothingness, non-being, “the widow, the orphan, the stranger” (as Hammurabi describes them in his Babylonian code of law) and the poor, an alterity from which criticism can be made of any system (economic, political, epistemological, philosophical, gender, cultural, racial, etc.) that closes on itself. Dussel is inspired by his favorite authors (Latin American and European, from Salazar Bondy or Freire to Sartre or Heidegger, including Hinkelammert, Levinas, Zea, Ricoeur or Benjamin) and subsumes them in a new decolonizing and critical discourse. The result is not only a new vision of world history, but also new philosophical categories that are refined, specified, as the debates, the years, and the existential places from which one thinks. The intercultural interpellation of indigenous peoples is strengthening the original theses of the Philosophy of Liberation. This work is dedicated in memory of Dr. Juan José Bautista (+2021), who left us too soon, and his wife Dr. Katya Colmenares who prepared this anthology and wrote its introduction.

    THEMA Phenomenology & Existentialism
Synopsis The history of philosophy rediscovered through the unique prism of the phenomenology of the body is no longer presented as the history of big ideas, but of some questions: a history of the remains, the shadows and the margins of philosophy. This work explores Merleau-Ponty's various approaches to certain canonical works in the history of philosophy. Accompanying the dialogue of his phenomenology with the celebrated theories of knowledge of Aristotle, Descartes, Hume, Kant, Bergson or Husserl means simultaneously outlining a history of the philosophies of the body and feeling.

Synopsis The history of Nuevos Burdeos is the story of a failed attempt, but at the same time it opens windows to a 19th century and to a Paraguay more interconnected than it is usually recognized. It allows to initiate family stories, surnames that remain to this day or people forced to move westward, away from the rivers. The work of Luc Capdevila and Guido Rodríguez Alcalá penetrates these worlds and, especially, that of the French consul, through his official correspondence.

Living in a happy and stable relationship with a man, she discovered the true and most complete love in a woman. Without a second thought, she took the risk and threw herself into a romance that would last longer than a decade. But happiness did not let her see that the day of the breakup would come, and it would not only bring loneliness, but a deep fear. Fear because the person she loved could now become her worst enemy. A present fear that reminds her of older fears exile, disappearances, violence. Alone, locked up with her thoughts, she recalls scenes from the past. The joy of that time does not comfort her: it wounds her with subtlety. The memories hurt, the photos are now pieces of memory. Pieces that she will have to pick up and put away in some corner in order to be able to move on.

Synopsis War is an essentially social phenomenon. Far from being fought exclusively on the battlefield, it also involves society, which demands men to swell the ranks of its armies and material resources to sustain itself in space and time, to which it imposes sacrifices and hardships. However, this mobilization incited by the State to sustain the war effort is not unilateral, but is often in dialogue with initiatives emanating from society itself.

The book is enriched with stories of iconic failure that have gone through Fuckup Nights internationally. It also includes revealing anecdotes from within the movement that tell of their own defeats, but also of its evolution.

Synopsis The Animal on the Stone or The Fable of the Egg are the same novel. I had those titles and decided that the first one was more enigmatic and perhaps lyrical, because the second one could be related to some episode in the kitchen, at breakfast time. The book can be read in one sitting, I have been told. So the reader gets up more or less early, has breakfast and then reads it, he will be free by midday and can take advantage of the rest of Saturday or Sunday. It is possible that he will get hungry in the meantime and even want to eat red meat because the protagonist goes to the supermarket and buys meat. It is also possible that he will have a desire to eat insects. None of that matters, either way. If the reader wants to escape, he can do so, that is his right. The first line will warn him of what he can find later: “My house was the territory of an extraordinary event.” Daniela Tarazona

Synopsis The approach to consumption as ritual greatly expands the understanding of society itself, as it offers reflections on the mechanisms of transfer of meaning from the cultural and socially constituted world to individuals, through privileged vectors of signs such as the fashion system, the advertising ecology and the soap opera. To conclude, the text deals with the limits of consumption, an issue that opens the work, reaching the understanding that there are clear limits to consumption, which are civic, moral and affective.

Synopsis This book is composed of twenty-four contributions that seek to provide a broad overview of points of contact between phenomenology and the philosophical tradition. It is not a history of philosophy from the phenomenological point of view, nor is it a search for “proto-phenomenological” authors. Rather, it is a broad exercise that integrates works in which some of the theses of phenomenology are discussed, dialogued and confronted with some of the peaks of the history of philosophy.

Synopsis Retrato hablado commemorates the centennial of Ramón López Velarde's death. Throughout the play, the writer's ghost recalls a dialogue that took place a century earlier between two young students and Miguel Casasola, as they wait for the poet in the photographer’s studio, where he is about to have is portrait taken. Said dialogue and the ghost's monologues present key moments in the life of López Velarde, dubbed the “national poet”, as well as passages that are representative of his literary opus. Synopsis The Trace is a text that talks about a burial, and the feelings of the protagonist when she contemplates the body of a man with whom she lived for a long time, whom she has stopped seeing and whom she sees again, now bloodless, and the memory of that body when it was alive and shared a very intense love relationship with the person who looks at it. But, by doing so, that is, by reviving it in writing, the decay of the body is cancelled. Writing allows us to give life to things again. Of course, writing is, on a certain level, a dead body by the very fact that it is something that is written and the book is an object, but by having the possibility of writing, of recreating something, life is recovered. This is the most beautiful thing about writing, the possibility of resurrecting that which disappears. Margo Glantz.

Synopsis A total ethnography, which finds in debts and in law two great operators of social life. In it, the author breaks down the modes of operation of collective law by showing procedures, rituals, coercive measures and sanctions. It is a living law that reinterprets and completes written law and has an effective way of functioning: it generates obligations. Here, living law is articulated with living debt, modulating a collective order full of precariousness, but also of solidarity, risk and protection.

Synopsis Separatist movements have affected areas in Indonesia since independence. Separatism is connected to the practice of state sovereignty, but also to group identity: it is a failure of Indonesian identity and an expression of a distinct local identity. Synopsis On December 29, 2004, during a concert by the rock band Callejeros at the República de Cromañón establishment, located in the Once neighborhood of Buenos Aires, a flare started a fire that caused the death of almost two hundred young people and injured many more. The night before, Camila Fabbri had been to one of the three concerts that the band was giving that week. In this book, the author reconstructs her own adolescence in the days before and after the tragedy, in addition to gathering the testimony of some survivors, family members and friends of the victims, as well as people who had no direct relationship with the event. Fabbri's writing thus becomes a tool to put an era into context; to build a collage and a chorus of voices that tells of what it was like to be a teenager at that time and to try to understand how it was possible to survive such a difficult episode.
