| Synopsis | This book details the multiple ways in which both worlds (Otomí/mbœhe) negotiate their coexistence through pacts of mutual devouring, with a marked cosmopolitical accent. It describes in its pages the Otomi Catholic shamanism, which postulates that the conversion of the indigenous souls demanded to become also the same body of Christ. This lives, captured, both in the body of his mēfi (who are his “workers”, chosen by means of lightning and illness and with whom he establishes conjugal alliances), and in the territory that they defend with determination. |
