| Synopsis | This work presents a series of histological cross-sections of the life of Isaac Ochoterena, a professor, researcher, and public servant who profoundly influenced the course of 20th-century Mexican biology. These biographical threads are colored by the historical hue of the Mexican Revolution, whose political and ideological influence shaped the trajectory of the first director of the Institute of Biology at the National Autonomous University of Mexico. Isaac Ochoterena not only survived a decisive encounter with Pancho Villa, but also undertook the controversial task of incorporating the principles of revolutionary nationalism into natural history research in the country. Replete with fascinating episodes and bitter confrontations, Ochoterena's life is fundamental to understanding the history of science in Mexico. |
