    THEMA Historical fiction

THEMA Modern and contemporary fiction: general and literary

    THEMA Modern and contemporary poetry

THEMA Modern and contemporary fiction: general and literary

THEMA Modern and contemporary fiction: general and literary

THEMA History of the Americas: pre-Columbian period
Synopsis From the myth of the Sun’s birth through the sacrifice of two gods at Teotihuacan, the flood that reorganized the world, the origin of human beings and the creation of land animals, up to the deep transformation of the indigenous understanding of the cosmos because of the colonial regime, this book offers valuable materials for the construction of Mesoamerican mythology. In these versions, prepared, prefaced and commentated on by Alfredo López Austin, it is possible to listen to the magnificent voices of the Popol Vuh, the Leyenda de los dos Soles and, amongst others, to numerous Quiché, Huichol, Mixe, Nahua, Maya and Tzeltal tales.

This biography portrays not only the incidents of a lifetime, but also the knowledge, the convictions, the dreams and the ideal figures that inspired it. It also describes that great movement of the minds and the bodies that a revolution implies, a rising tide which Ángeles joined without giving up his ideas or abdicating of his own ways to inhabit this world.

The repetition of the myth is, thus, the Eternal Return to the beginning, to the age without boundaries where divine sacrifice established the order of being and life.

Synopsis A cada cual su cielo is written, in a way, against the idea of importance. Minimal situations acquire an unexpected superiority: the poet has expanded his method of looking at things in such a way that he can’t find considerable differences between them. The feet of Turkish women; bed sheets hung up at the rooftop that free us from the idea of God; the consent to lose a tooth for each well-written poem are some of the glimmers that strike the poet from different angles, forcing him to dig every time in a new direction to find meaning in his life.

Suspended between the above and the below, between the name and the ineffable, between life and death, nepantla would embody a frontier that, at one time, is a place of places and the absence of all place, an ideal form and an imminent incarnation. Synopsis This long poem is the scenery where several characters play a moving part, such as the fox, the jaguar, the ubiquitous clown, children dripping with joy and an interlocutor that the poetic voice addresses with loving dedication. It is the touching space of childhood, that brightens and incessantly lays down a vital spot. But it is mostly the place of natural wonder, described with talent, always marked by fine rays of light, sparkles and reflections that covers it, simultaneously, of a sharp clarity and a just as sharp certainty of fleetingness. As in this space, in this garden, this life is supported by the roots of death. This book was translated into Italian and published by Edizioni Kolibris in 2015

Synopsis Which room? Which hotel? The readers of this round and intriguing book will ask themselves; a book whose simple strokes and complex effects recall the watercolors that integrate into the whiteness of paper to transmit the surprise of the work of art. The room is oneself; the room is the world; it is memory or identity; or it is, in fact, a hotel room, or a hospital room; or a country. Whatever the answer or the sum of answers is, this book is an allegory of our fleeting nature and of the temporary condition of a repeatedly warlike and wrecked world.
