Alongside accounts of migratory experiences\u2014drawn from real informants\u2014the book explores the question of the border: what it means for people to be separated by an arbitrary line that distinguishes \u201cthere\u201d from \u201chere,\u201d becoming a nightmare for those who travel and a chimera for those who live there. Crossing points give rise to transformations that generate dynamism while also producing inequalities and multiple complexities.
