Synopsis<\/th>\nThis book focuses on the configuration of musical practices in the city of Asunci\u00f3n del Paraguay during the colonial period. The indigenous musicians of the surrounding Indian villages -the \u201csinging Indians\u201d- became protagonists in the urban musical activity when they were transferred from the Jesuit reductions and Indian villages under the care of secular and Franciscan priests to Asunci\u00f3n for festivals and celebrations, promoting the circulation of knowledge and practices.
